Mario José Jovel is an accomplished attorney that has practiced law for 30 years as a litigator emphasizing in criminal defense, personal injury and consumer protection. Mr. Jovel commenced his legal career as a recipient of the prestigious Reginald Herbert Smith Fellowship with the Legal Aid Society of Santa Cruz County.
Before joining Dunning Law Group, Mr. Jovel served as an Assistant District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco for 14 years. Mr. Jovel also served as a Deputy District Attorney with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, and as a staff attorney with the Oakland City Attorney's Office where he handled civil litigation and criminal cases. In addition to his public service, Mr. Jovel has also represented a variety of individuals and small businesses in private practice, including both civil and criminal matters.
Mr. Jovel attended both the University of California at Berkeley and San Francisco State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, San Francisco, Hastings College of Law.
Mr. Jovel is fluent in Spanish and is also a CWAG Faculty member that regularly provides on-going trials skill training to International attorneys in Mexico.
